Baby Massage | Way of Doing | Benefits


Massage is a beautiful way to connect to your baby and set up a close bond with her. Massage can soothe your baby and help her to sleep. There are many benefits of baby massage. You can start doing massage right after 2-3 days of birth. You can use any baby oil for massaging. You need to massage your baby regularly for 15-20 mins and 2 times a day for faster growth.

Massage not only soothe your baby but also ....

Proper Way of Doing Baby Massage

For massaging you need :

  • Baby Oil (Any branded baby oil/ mustard oil/olive oil)
  • Towel 


First of all you need to take off all the jewelry items from your hands that can harm the baby and bring your hand to normal body temperature. Then take off your baby clothes gently and make sure that the room is little warmer so that your baby can lie down comfortably. Place your baby gently on the towel.

Take good amount of baby oil on your palm and rub your hands gently then start massaging your baby, starting from legs.

Leg Massage
Starting from legs gently wrap your hands around baby's leg and glide your hands down from her thigh to her toe. Repeat this for at least 20 times then do the same on other leg.

Belly Massage
Then move to belly massage. Place your hands at the level of your baby's navel. In a clockwise motion, rub your fingertips firmly and gently over her tummy in a circular motion. Repeat this for 10 times.

Arm Massage 
Gently roll your baby's arm between your hands, starting at her shoulder and moving down to his wrist. Repeat 20 times, and then switch to his other arm.

Neck Massage 
Support your infant's head and upper body with one hand. Place the thumb of your other hand on one side of her neck and your first two fingers on the other side. Then use your fingertips to gently rub your baby's neck in a circular motion. Repeat these circles a few times.

Back Massage
Gently hold your baby place her on your legs, her belly facing your knees. Start gliding your hands on her back starting from neck in downward direction. Repeat this few times. Then start making 8 on her back with your finger tips and repeat this for few times. 

Face Massage
Gently massage your baby cheeks in circular motion using your finger tips for 2-3 times. For massaging her forehead massage in circular motion 2-3 times. For eyebrow massage place your fingertips on the center of your baby eyebrows then glide your fingertips from the center of the brows in opposite direction to the end of eyebrows, repeat this few times. For nose massage, take some oil in your thumb and start moving your thumb from eyes corner to the center of the eyebrows in upward direction.

At any point of time during massaging if your baby started crying, you can stop massaging and console your baby first to make her feel comfortable and enjoy the massage. Generally baby cries for first few days when you start massaging, later they starting enjoying and also started interacting with you during the process.

Tips for massaging and consoling your baby

  • Always take good amount of oil so that your hands can glide easily on the baby body.
  • Take out all the jewelry items from your hands as it can harm your baby.
  • If your baby is crying the best way is to hold her hands and look into her eyes and start talking to her. This gives your baby a confidence in you and baby will allow you to massage
  • Sing some poem or song during massage, this makes baby feel good and will help you to interact with baby.
  • Always talk to your baby while massaging.

About Pregnancy and pregnancy hormone hCG


Hey all newly pregnant ladies.......

First of all congratulations and as I always say Happy pregnancy.. :) . So if you are first time pregnant, you would surely have lots of questions in your mind. I have already gone through it...and I used to spend lots or almost all of my time on google to find what is going to happen with me now........wht is the next step and all.....

So today I am going to share some info about the pregnancy stages.....I hope many of u might be aware of but still for those who wants to know ......

So here we go.......

hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) also called pregnancy hormone
This hCG hormone is produced during pregnancy.

Average level of hCG :

  • Non pregnant women  : <5 milli-international units per millilitre (mlU/ml)
  • 3 weeks pregnant after LMP : 5-50 mlU/ml
  • 4 weeks pregnant after LMP : 50-500 mlU/ml
Level can first be detected by blood test about after 11 days of conception. 

And through urine test after 12 to 14 days.

Pregnancy is categorized in 3 trimesters :

1st Trimester :  The first three months of pregnancy are very critical and crucial for a healthy pregnancy. Special care is required during this period.Generally ladies gets morning sickness and they feel very tired during this phase. Generally it is recommended to take rest, avoid travel, avoid caffeine (tea/coffee/cold drink) and avoid papaya and pomegranate during this phase.

2nd Trimester : The next three months of pregnancy, actually this is the golden period of pregnancy where most of women are free from morning sickness and can even travel.

3rd Trimester : These are the last three months of pregnancy, where you actually should start preparing yourself for d day that is for the delivery, like you should start doing exercises (butterfly, breathing and squatting mainly), drink lots of water, take rest, go for walk etc.

During your entire pregnancy you will have multiple scans for detecting proper growth of baby and indeed you will get a chance to see your baby... :)

First scan will take place right after the positive hCG blood test report. 

To your surprise you will be able to hear your baby's heartbeat when you are 6 weeks pregnant after your LMP (Last Menstrual Cycle). Isn't this wonderful.

Pregnant or not ???


Hi friends,

Are you pregnant ???....If not yet confirmed then don't worry I'll help you. 

So if you have a regular period cycle and you have missed it or its delayed then you always have an option to test it using any home pregnancy test kit. Many options are available in the market. 

Pregnancy test kit measures the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) in your body. Home pregnancy tests detects the presence of hCG in your urine.


Big question....  how soon can I detect my pregnancy ? 

Using sensitive pregnancy test kit you can detect even 4 days before your due date. Amazing isn't it...... The sensitivity of pregnancy test kit is described in the packaging as mlU/ml. Pregnancy tests range from 10mlU/ml to 40mlU/ml. You can go for 10mlU/ml if you want to detect it at the earliest. 

But it is recommended to test after 5-6 days of missed periods as at that time hCG level will be high enough to detect

Negative Pregnancy test kit result.... don't worry...

If the result is negative then mostly you are not but still there are chances that you are pregnant. So the best way is to go for a blood test in lab which will detect the hCG level (pregnancy hormone ) in your blood. This is the most trusted way of detecting pregnancy as this is far more accurate that home pregnancy test kits....so ladies go for it to confirm your pregnancy.........

Third trimester check list

Hey all would be moms..
Since you have entered your third trimester so its very common to feel really excited and at the same time little nervous too. So here I am writing a blog for all of you which I hope will help you all..

Third trimester dos 

  • Drink lots of water as much as you can. Minimum 8 glass a day. 
         
          This will help you and your baby both.
  • Start going for a long walk twice a day..morning and evening. As walking is the best exercise and it really helps if you are planning for normal delivery
       
  • Start doing exercises and yoga as it will help to make your body flexible and will indeed help during labor.
         Especially breathing exercise, butterfly and squatting one.
  • Take a healthy diet, don't skip the meals. Try to add more roughage and raw fruits and vegetables in your diet.

  • Start taking hot milk with 2-3  tablespoons of ghee in it. This will help during labor. 

  • Practice your hobby and try to be in a good mood as it is said that your mood will affect baby's mood too...

  • Pack your hospital bag..As now you need to rush to the hospital at any point of time and its good if you have your bag ready.
